The trouble with my other hwacha model is that it's too complicated to be useful for creating icons. And there certainly aren't enough icons of hwacha in the world. So, these models sacrifice accuracy but are intended to look good is small-sized images.
This model is the one used to create the hwacha.net logo. It's not very accurate, but it's nice and simple. The model file contains both 'resting' (i.e. pointing upward) and 'ready to fire' (i.e. supported by a pole at the back) versions.
I have to say, I have been absolutely amazed at how easy Sketchup makes it to create small-scale models like this.

I honestly don't understand why there aren't more cute baby hwacha. 'Babo' Ondal (his friends only call him that in fun) would make a great character in a children's animation set in the Imjin war! Episodes could include:
- Ondal catches cold -- very dangerous for everyone in the vicinity
- Ondal goes to sea -- Ondal goes for a ride on a geobukseon ship
- Ondal's busy day -- Ondal fights in the siege of Haengju
- Ondal and history -- Ondal reflects on the wider consequences of the Imjin war, including the weakening of Ming China's northeastern defences. He is led to theorize that the expansionist foreign policies of Japan and China alike led to a disastrous conservatism in domestic policy.
